Diane Schroeder

Diane Schroeder is a Chicago-based artist working in mixed-media collage and figurative painting. She gathers fragments of early photography, fashion, and cinema, arranging them into layered compositions that feel quietly rediscovered.

Influenced by art deco elegance and surrealist gesture, she builds each piece through careful assembly and painted intervention. Black and white figures meet color, pattern, and texture, unfolding within constructed spaces that feel both intimate and theatrical.

Diane graduated from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 1991 with a BFA in Painting and Art History. Her work has been exhibited in Chicago and Portland and continues to evolve through studio practice and commissioned portraiture. Each collection reflects an ongoing curiosity about beauty, memory, and the shifting presence of women across time.
